About NCC Department
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit at our college, established in 1970, is open to both Junior and Senior College Students under the “36 Maharashtra Battalion NCC, Pune”, with a capacity of 100 cadets. The foundation of NCC on our campus was laid by Former Associate NCC Officer Major Navnath Atmaram Rokade, who diligently led the unit, after which Captain Dr. Babasaheb Maruti Mane assumed responsibility in 2007, effectively steering its growth. The NCC plays a pivotal role in fostering physical endurance, mental resilience, and leadership qualities among students while significantly enhancing their career prospects, particularly in the defense sector, with numerous cadets successfully serving in the military since 2008. Many cadets have represented the institution at prestigious National events, including the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, National Integration Camps (NIC) across India, Trekking Expeditions, and the G.V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship in Kolkata. The department takes pride in organizing impactful initiatives such as International Yoga Day, World Wetland Day, Swachhata Rallies, NCC Day, Kargil Vijay Diwas, Mata Suraksha Rally, Tree Plantation Drives, Environmental Awareness Lectures, Blood Donation Camps, and Women’s Day Celebrations, among others.
To further enrich cadets’ academic and professional pursuits, the college library houses an extensive collection of NCC handbooks and defense service literature. In a significant step towards gender inclusivity, from the academic year 2024-2025, 40% of the NCC quota is reserved for girl cadets, with many already achieving remarkable milestones—three have joined the police force since 2014, one was recruited into the Military Police in 2023, and several others are actively serving in various social domains. The NCC department continues to uphold its legacy of excellence, instilling discipline, patriotism, and a sense of service among cadets while preparing them for future leadership roles.
