About Department of Geography
The Department of Geography, established in 1977-78, offers B.A. and M.A. degrees in Geography, affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The department was founded under the leadership of Prof. Balasaheb Pawar and Dr. Uttamrao Jagdale and is currently headed by Dr. Ashok Dushing. Keeping pace with the National Education Policy (NEP), the department focuses on multidisciplinary learning, skill development, and research-based education to enhance students’ analytical abilities and employability. In line with technological advancements, it introduced a Certificate Course in GIS (Geographical Information System) in 2010-11 and M.A./M.Sc. Geography in 2012-13. With a strong emphasis on experiential learning, field studies, and research-based projects, the department continues to uphold its legacy of academic excellence, with two students securing the first rank in B.A. Geography Special at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.
